Tighter Skin for Dry Eye Relief

Over time, the skin on your face—particularly your eyelids—may begin to sag and lose elasticity. Skin needs two proteins called collagen and elastin to maintain its tightness, which it loses as we age. Without those proteins to keep your eyelids tight, you could experience symptoms of dry eye disease.

At Watson Dry Eye Center, we pursue innovative treatment solutions to help you overcome dry eye. Visit us to discover if skin tightening should be part of your personalized dry eye treatment plan.

What is TempSure Envi?

TempSure Envi uses gentle radiofrequency waves to tighten skin for dry eye relief. Your doctor first applies a cooling gel to your skin. Then they move the device in small circular motions to deliver the radiofrequency waves.

Under the skin surface, the radiofrequency waves stimulate new collagen production, which is essential to maintaining tighter skin. As new collagen sets in, your skin will become firmer over 6–12 weeks.

TempSure Envi also gently heats the skin, making it a treatment option for meibomian gland dysfunction, one of the leading causes of dry eye.

How Can Skin Tightening Help You?

Your eyelids cover your eye surface in a layer of tear film to keep it nourished and hydrated whenever you blink. If your eyelid tissue sags, it can’t cover the entire eye surface adequately, leading to red, itchy, and irritated eyes.Skin tightening using TempSure Envi can reduce your risk of developing dry eye symptoms by keeping your eyelids tight enough to cover the eye surface when they blink. Two conditions contribute to eyelid looseness: ectropion and entropion.

Ectropion

Ectropion is a condition that causes your eyelids to turn outward. It most often affects the lower eyelids. As ectropion develops, it leaves a sizable gap where dust and bacteria can enter the eyelid, which may block essential tear glands and lead to dry eye.

Entropion causes your eyelids to turn inward, so your eyelashes brush the eye surface, which can cause significant discomfort. This contact can increase the amount of dirt and bacteria in the eye, leading to dry eye. Entropion generally only affects the lower eyelid.
