Addressing Dry Eye Through BlephEx
Microblepharoexfoliation, also known as BlephEx, is an innovative treatment option for dry eye that targets blepharitis. Blepharitis is an inflammation of the eyelids that can lead to redness, itching, and irritation of the eyes. It is often caused by bacteria on the eyelids and can be difficult to treat with traditional methods.
At Watson Dry Eye Center, we strive to provide our patients with a variety of safe and proven treatment options.
BlephEx allows us to help our patients in-office—contact us to schedule your appointment today.
How BlephEx Works
BlephEx is an in-office procedure that uses a specialized tool to precisely and safely clean the eyelids and lashes. The procedure takes less than 10 minutes and is performed by your eye care professional to address blepharitis and dry eye.
During the procedure, a small sponge is gently placed on the eyelid and used to remove debris, bacteria, and other irritants from the base of the lashes.
BlephEx & Dry Eye
BlephEx can help improve dry eye symptoms through addressing blepharitis, a common underlying condition that can worsen dry eye.
By removing the buildup of bacteria and other irritants, BlephEx can help reduce inflammation and improve the health of the eyelids. This can lead to improved tear production and better quality of tears, which can help relieve dry eye symptoms such as redness, burning, and discomfort.
By removing the buildup of biofilm, BlephEx can create a clean surface for topical medications to adhere to, which can improve their effectiveness in treating blepharitis and dry eye.
What to Expect After BlephEx
Following your BlephEx treatment, you can resume normal activities. To achieve best results, treatment may need to be repeated every 4 to 6 months as determined by our team.
The sooner you implement BlephEx into your eye care routine, the better long-term results you can expect. Our team strives to help you overcome the affects of dry eye and blepharitis through innovative treatments.
